In the past few years, infrared saunas have grown in popularity thanks to their numerous health benefits.

But how often should you sauna?

Figuring this out is all very much based on your individual health goals and conditions.

So, here’s a simple guide to help you find the right balance of when and how often to sauna.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I USE INFRARED SAUNAS?

Beginners

If you’re new to infrared saunas, we recommend starting start with 1-2 sessions per week. This allows your body to acclimate to the heat and benefits without overwhelming it.

Well warmed

Once you are used to the heat and have been a few times, aim for 2-3 sessions per week. This frequency can help enhance detoxification and relaxation while improving overall wellbeing.

Seasoned pros

For experienced sauna users who are looking to max out the benefits of infrared, 3-5 sessions per week can be ideal. This frequency is often recommended for individuals targeting specific health goals such as weight loss, chronic pain relief.

However often you decide to come, why not join Sweat Club and save on every Slökun session?

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER

ree

  • Less can be more. Most sessions last between 20 to 45 minutes. If you’re new to infrared sauna, you may want to start with shorter sessions and gradually increase the duration of time you stay in the sauna as you become more comfortable with the heat.

  • Listen to your body. Always pay attention to how your body responds. If you feel light headed, nauseous or dehydrated or uncomfortable in any way, make sure you step out immediately and allow your body to cool down and settle. It might be worth spacing out your sessions or reducing the amount of time you spend in the sauna into shorter bursts. As ever, listen to your body as it always knows the score.

  • Stay healthy, safe and hydrated. If you have underlying health conditions or are taking medication that may be affected by heat, please speak to your doctor before starting infrared sauna therapy. Equally, if you’re pregnant, please speak to your doctor as heat may affect your pregnancy. Ensure you stay hydrated before, during and after each session, as sweating can lead to fluid loss.

FIND YOUR FREQUENCY

Finding the ideal frequency for infrared sauna use is a personal journey that depends on individual health goals and tolerance levels.

Starting slow, listening to your body and adjusting as needed can help you reap the maximum benefits of this relaxing, therapeutic practice.

Whether you choose to use the sauna for relaxation, detoxification, or other health benefits, consistency is the key to getting the most out of your sessions and you’ll start to feel the benefits even if you only come once a week.
