Acupuncture Treatment Styles

Acupuncture and associated therapies to help you feel your best

My treatments are holistic, and individualised to you and your symptoms and history.  I am an accredited member of the Association of Acupuncture Clinicians (formerly the BAA), which requires degree level training, and abiding by a code of ethics and safety.

I always aim to treat your main presenting condition for noticeable results, while also addressing the underlying cause or causes of your problem for long lasting effects.  Over the years I have developed a style of acupuncture which is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) but incorporates some Japanese techniques.  More recently I have trained in NeoClassical Acupuncture which now forms the mainstay of my treatments due to the impressive results I am seeing with it on most people..

Treatment may include associated techniques such as Cupping, Moxibustion, Gua Sha, Laser Acupuncture, YNSA Scalp Acupuncture Auricular Acupuncture or Electro Acupuncture.  We'll discuss your treatment priorities and make a treatment plan together.   Get in touch with me today to see how I can help you feel your best self.

Neoclassical Acupuncture is a revolutionary style of acupuncture that provides immediate feedback with each needle placement. Its immediate efficacy with very few needles has made it one of the fastest-growing styles in Europe and Mexico. It uses a minimum of needles to achieve rapid relief of symptoms and a profound sense of deep relaxation.

Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), also known as Cold Laser, Soft Laser, or Photo Bio-Modulation Therapy, is a painless and effective treatment option - great for those with needle phobias or for Children, as well as for various conditions where needling may not be safe or appropriate. It is becoming increasingly popular as research proves the incredible benefits of using focused light to reduce inflammation, accelerate healing, alleviate pain, and address numerous health issues.

Cupping Therapy

Release and detox

Moxibustion (also known as Moxa) is commonly used in conjunction with acupuncture to support treatment.  It typically involves burning a herb on top of the needles or holding a stick of burning moxa over specific areas of the skin to create warmth and promote movement, thereby supporting the immune system.  It is very relaxing and enjoyable.  It is also often recommended in the late stages of pregnancy for turning Breech Babies.

Cupping (the placement of suction cups on the skin) is sometimes included in your treatment and can also be offered as a stand-alone treatment where appropriate.  It can be great for stimulating Qi and Blood flow, relieving tight muscles and supporting healing.  Cupping can leave marks on the skin for several days after treatment, but these are not bruises. Research has shown cupping to be effective for Fibromyalgia and neck and shoulder pain, among other conditions.
